Large Group #1: Canonicity

Have you ever read your Bible and wondered why it looks the way it does? How did the church decide what to include and what to leave out? On Monday, April 1, Nathan came over and talked about a bit of history, explaining how our bible ended up this way. Read on to find out what he had to say :)

As a heads up, I’m writing mostly verbatim from the powerpoint slides Nathan had.
And if you want to skip the history part, scroll all the way until it says "Hebrew Tanakh"
For the conclusion, read the last paragraph.

Large Group #2: How to Share Your Faith

Hey everyone. Long time no see. It's been over a month since we posted--that was completely my fault, I should've arranged my time better. Anyway, this Monday, Tim shared about how we can share the Gospel with others. We had a lot of discussion, but I've included below only Tim's notes. It goes over some common reasons why many Christians are afraid of sharing their faith, then refutes them, then goes over basics of what we ought to know if, and when, we share our faith with others.

So, feel free to read on. I hope we can all share the Gospel with those we care about :)

Large Group #6: The Meaning of Fellowship

Hi everyone!
As you've already heard, CCF is trying to bring back house-based small groups (with the emphasis that it is all inclusive, regardless of house affiliation) because fellowship and building each other up is very important.

It was very timely that Tim had prepared a large group on the meaning of fellowship. I've included his notes (discussing the origins of the word and how it was applied in the bible), and then we discussed some small group-oriented questions. Read on to find out more!

Large Group #5: Dealing with Rejection

Hi there! Today Pastor Nathan came again to speak about dealing with rejection/criticism, specifically focusing on the not-so-familiar story of King David and Shimei and also some other examples of living people. The large group meeting was more informal and focused on discussion that was more personal, so it was a bit hard to take notes on. Nevertheless, feel free to read on! (The story about Shimei was very interesting, you should check it out).

Large Group #2: "When I Don't Desire God"

Today Tim shared about another John Piper book: When I Don't Desire God. We had a lot of good, confusing discussion about what it means to have joy in the Lord, for Him to be our ultimate desire, how do we address depression, etc. Unfortunately I forgot to type up the questions and discussion we had (there was a lot, and of good quality. You should have been there.) but fortunately Tim has notes, so go ahead and read the whole post!

You can also download for free, legally, any of John Piper's books here.

Large Group #1: Isaiah 58

Welcome back to school. I hope you all had a fruitful first day of classes :)
Today Tim shared about Isaiah 58, which focuses on "true fasting", ie. serving others. After his sharing, we had some discussion. I'll include a little bit in the blogpost preview about what he talked about, and then you should read on to find out the rest :)

Many of us make New Year’s resolutions. Often these could be such things as staying in shape, reading the Bible more, or being more diligent in our work. These goals are good things. But we often miss something that is more important.

Large Group #6: Women in the Bible

Hey everyone,

Today Madeleine led large group (her first time--good job, Madeleine!) about the role of women in the bible. Due to limited time, we discussed several women (mostly from the old testament), what their role was, what this meant for society, what this meant for us, etc.

Please read on to check out what we talked about :)

God bless you all!
