Advice
o
Take care of your own spiritual walk first
o
Unless you are receiving wisdom and strength you
can’t be giving it out
§
Best to have at least two sources of strength –
small group + discipleship etc.
o
When you take care of a lot of people you need a
lot of people taking care of you
o
Being on council unites the people on council
o
Be honest and open with other council members
o
Large temptation to judge an event based on
numbers
§
Worry about the people themselves
o
Discipleship coordinator especially should reach
out to people
o
Be innovative
§
Worst line is “We never did it that way”
§
Learn reasons behind traditions
§
But don’t feel obligated to do everything the
exact same way
o
Talk to mentors
o
Be on top of things – schedule whole term out
o
Use council agenda doc or do something else
o
Scheduling things last minute is bad and has
been a chronic problem
o
Council can decide how secret/intimate council is
o
Should be comfortable giving/accepting criticism
o
Share each other’s burdens
o
Talk about intimacy
-
Read through list of nominations
o
Declined those who hadn’t responded to Richard’s
email or weren’t here
-
Vivian/Elizabeth/Madeleine sorted out roles
between them
-
Robb
o
Christianity makes sense
o
Learned from parents, later accepted for himself
o
Role of president is good – doing what is needed
when it was needed
o
Watch out for the general direction of the
fellowship
o
Robb is new president
o
Peter gave Robb the adornment of the CCF
President
-
Tim
o
Grew up in Christian home
o
Had lots of questions about Christianity –
eventually made sense
o
CCF very valuable – affirms the center core
faith

o
Grew a lot in confidence and maturity over the
last year
o
Tim is new large group coordinator
-
Grace for secretary
o
Became serious about faith in beginning of high
school
o
Meeting CCF was like meeting new family
o
Wants to contribute back to fellowship
o
Likes taking notes and studying the bible
o
Grace is approved for dig-in dude
-
Becca for secretary
o
Life is better as a Christian
o
Think about important things all the time.
o
Becca has already done secretary – good for CCF
o
Hardest part about job last time was being on
council – not secretary duties
o
Becca and Grace are approved for secretary
-
Elizabeth for event coordinator
o
Christianity gives her life meaning
o
Want to support one another; CCF is really like a family—eg. they take
care of each other not for the sake of taking care of each other, but to make
each other more effective leaders and members in Christ
o
Event coordinator is most geared towards
outreach. Numbers aren’t everything, but it’s still nice to reach out to others
and show care for others, making others comfortable and happy so people will
come to us and we can help care for them
o
Biggest challenge next year would be finding
balance between academics and extracurricular activities and being overly
concerned about people’s feelings (eg. being willing to criticize others)
o
Elizabeth is approved for events coordinator
-
Madeleine for Retreat Coordinator
o
Grew up Christian w/o knowing she was brought up
Christian
o
What she liked best about CCF is the family
o
Loves retreats b/c one of the best ways for her
to connect w/ God is going off campus into the wild
o
She’s very organized, gets work done early. Not
super structured though; wants retreat time to be free time. Is open to
different ideas.
o
Madeleine is approved for retreat coordinator
-
Vivian for frosh prayer coordinator
o
Grew up in a Christian family. Asked God to show
her he is real. Seeing how He guides her life and her family, and how He is
always there for her, is her reason for believing.
o
Like Elizabeth, she got an email from Peter for
pre-term retreat
o
Wants to contribute to CCF and support others
and support the frosh. Frosh prayer will allow her to form connections w/ other
people.
o
When we get busy, we tend to forget prayer. It’s
good to share with others and have quiet time with God.
§
Idea: can have discipleship pairs go to FP at
different days of the week
-
Maura for Discipleship Coordinator
o
God started off as a set of inconvenient
arbitrary rules, until turmoil came into family, and she began praying every
night in high school. Thought she could do this Jesus thing on her own, and God
thought it was funny. Megan and Miceala got her going to large group, and she
got involved, and Jesus happened.
o
She likes people. Wants to get people more
plugged in; she’d enjoy doing discipleship coordinating. Can check in on people
if necessary.
o
Maura is approved for discipleship coordinator
o
Maura is disapproved for Canadian ambassador
-
Robb for Worship Leader
o
Robb is approved for worship leader
-
Voting to approve council
o
We’ll do this during CCF large group or
something
-
Small Group Coordinator
o
We’ll split this over the rest of council
-
Pray over core council
-
Why do we believe in Christianity?
o
Because it is true
§
There are many great answers, but this is the
fundamental
o
Pray for Robb (new president)
